I have a secret to disclose. I play favorites.

Recently, I am partial to a specific training gear - the weighted vest.

A weighted vest increases the intensity of your workout. More energy is required as you perform body-weight exercises, muscle building, and cardio activities.

This added resistance also aids in weight-loss, increases strength and endurance, as well as speed. Muscle and bone density also improves as the body adjusts to the additional weight.

Whether you are powerlifting or simply wanting to add variation and intensity to your training, I highly suggest that you try putting a weighted vest on. If you are wondering where to begin, you can click here for some good choices.

Although it says the exercise is specifically for powerlifting, it's simple enough even for those who are simply working on trimmer abs and a stronger core.

Understandably, a lot of people mistake one with the other.

Although both are form of strength competition sports, there are major distinctions that you need to know, especially if you plan to lift competitively.

Allow me to enlighten you:

FACTORS POWERLIFTING WEIGHTLIFTING
Competition LiftsSquat, benchpress, and deadlift (none is directed overhead)
Snatch, Clean and jerk (both overhead movements)
Execution Speed Performed more slowly because the weights are huge Done quickly to help push the weight from the floor to shoulder or overhead height
Personal Equipment Powerlifters often wear support gear, such as tightly fitting squat suits, bench pressing shirts, deadlifting suits and elastic briefs Weightlifters can wear back support belt, knee sleeves and wrist wraps in addition to their lifting suit and shoes
Lifter Body-built Requirement Powerlifters are heavily muscled with a moderate to high level of body fat. They usually have a short torso in relation to leg length.
Weightlifters are leaner and have longer torsos.
